Many older buildings have no damp-proof course and while normally moisture rises and dissipates naturally through the walls, if those wall have been coated in an inappropriate paint that prevents "breathing", serious damp rot can occur as well as frost damage to the exterior brick or stone. We are specialists in removing such painted layers, without damage to the underlying masonry, and replacing with either clear stone-restorative coatings or pigments that allow the building to dissipate excess moisture naturally. We are expert in applying traditional limewash and mineral-based (?) paints. |
